Conductor

Tobias Bethlehem

I am Tobias Bethlehem, born in 1986, married to Caroline and father of Janna (2014), Jelle (2016) and Jip (2019).

I studied classical guitar with Lydia Kennedy at the Arnhem Conservatory, that's where the love for choral music sparked. The hours of choral class with all first and second year students were the highlight of the week and as soon as I could I also took choral conducting as a minor with Rob Vermeulen.

In 2016 I had the opportunity to study again, this time choral conducting and classical singing with Louis Buskens and Marcel Reijans at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen. In June 2020 I graduated as a professional choir conductor with a minor in singing.

At the moment I am finishing the Master Choral Conducting at the HKU, again with Rob Vermeulen.

I am currently conducting four different choirs in different styles and a chamber orchestra and I really enjoy the diversity of people and music. Anyone can make music and put their feelings into it. The best thing about conducting is working together towards a goal: putting on a great concert and reaching the highest possible level. That's what I do it for!
